The first PhD thesis on oral and maxillofacial surgery in our country was defended in 1936. After 20 years, a chair for oral and maxillofacial surgery was established. In 1961, I specialized department with 60 beds, and in 1974 II specialized department with 20 beds started operating. In 1977, a children's ward with 25 beds was opened. In 2007, the first textbook in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery was published.
Currently, 6 doctors of sciences, more than 25 candidates of sciences, and more than 250 specialists are working in this field of medicine. They were invited to forums and scientific-practical seminars held in different countries of the world and gave speeches at those events.
AZERTAC reports that it was discussed at the international scientific conference on oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Teaching Surgery Clinic of the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU).
Opening the conference with the participation of the presidents of the societies of oral and maxillofacial surgeons from different countries, representatives of the European Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and well-known experts, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the Medical University Rauf Baylarov said that this year, the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic will be celebrated in our country. is being In recent years, new societies and associations have been created in a number of fields and specialties, and one of them is the Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Azerbaijan, which has been officially operating as a public association since September 29 last year, according to the certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice. Today's conference is also his presentation ceremony. The society intends to cooperate with its colleagues from different countries of the world and to discuss the perspectives of the development of this field together with world experts.
Chairman of the Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Azerbaijan, head of the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of AMU, professor Chingiz Rahimov, gave information about the history, ways of development, and current state of oral and maxillofacial surgery in our country. He spoke about the duties, action plan, cooperation opportunities and development prospects of the society, which unites the most advanced specialists of the republic working in this field.
World-renowned surgeons - Ibrahim Yıldırım (Turkey), Edgar Biemer (Germany), representatives of the European Craniofacial Association, professors Satheesh Prabhu and Aakshay Gulati, Alexander Nerobeyev (Russia), SM Balashi (India), Pietro Bormioli (Italy) will attend the conference. ) and heads of various medical organizations and societies operating in our country spoke.
A memorandum on future cooperation was signed between the Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Azerbaijan and various institutions operating in this field of medicine.
